This is the day that I always find it hardest to get out of bed every single week. It is still technically the work week so I should be getting some things done, but it is actually the first day of the weekend for me since I only have classes 4 days a week
It’s not so much the getting up that’s hard. I can wake up fairly easy, but actually getting out of my warm snuggly bed, especially when I know there is snow outside is incredibly difficult. I’m sure most of you would agree.
Most of the time I try to stick to the same old schedule that I have set up for myself to get me going through the motions and hopefully kick-start the day. Most of the time it works perfectly because I don’t even have to think about what to do next and can just go through the motions.
And so forth.
But other times, I need something a little extra to really rev-me up and there are two ways I do this that work together, both utilize my diffusor.
USING CORRECT COLORS
Especially with the world being so monochromatic with all of this snow adding a bit of color to your morning routine can help stimulate specific feelings and emotions. I currently have two diffusers in my room. One near the center of the room on my desk and the other in my bathroom. I know some of you may be thinking about that bathroom one, but it is actually because I spend a large amount of my morning getting ready in there. I do my makeup, brush my teeth, do my hair, all the while staring at the same walls the entire time, day in and day out.
But the diffusers I currently have, have a color setting. At first, I thought this was more for children and a night light, but in the morning they are perfect.I only really use three of the colors in the morning but each color has a specific importance to getting your morning started.
ORANGE is able to evoke energy, friendliness, and vibrancy in the mind but also create a feeling of security, comfort, and fun.
YELLOW is a bright and energetic color that presents the person seeing it with feelings of warmth, positivity, confidence, happiness, excitement, and cheerfulness.
TURQUOISE has a dual use of promoting calmness and balancing emotions but also increases friendly and happy emotions.
USING ESSENTIAL OILS
As I preach so often on this site, essential oils are one of the greatest things to have come into existence for me. They help with all kinds of things when applied topically or ingested (*if the correct grade), but even just diffusing a few in the morning can make a world of a difference for your energy and readiness for the day. And being used along with any or all three of the colors I mentioned before is the perfect start to the day.
CYPRESS helps to create a calming but energizing environment along with working to create emotional balance within you and is often used in massages for these reasons.
SANDALWOOD works along with cypress on balancing your emotions and is an oil that is often used to improve meditation and yoga with its feelings of calmness.
WILD ORANGE works on two different sides of the spectrum with heightening your energy, creativity, and concentration while lessening feelings of stress, anxiety or irritability. All together working to create emotional balance.
WINTERGREEN is often used in massages for its warming quality but also incorporates both feelings of relaxation and emotional balance for a person.
HOW TO MAKE:
*Depending on the diffuser you have, you might need to tweak the actual amount of oils you place into your diffuser based on the recommended amount. But in my diffuser I use:
2 drops Cypress essential oil
1 drop Sandalwood essential oil
2 drops Wild Orange essential oil
1 drops Wintergreen essential oil
Combine together with full amount of water possible in diffuser, turn on, and enjoy~
Any or all of these ways are great ways to start your day off right. Do any of you have a specific way to motivate you to get out of bed? Please let me know in the comment section. I would love to hear what gets you going in the morning.
